Government Affairs
Community colleges serve an important role in developing the workforce of our region
which in turn drives our local economy.
Every Fall semester, ACC enrolls more than 5,000 students who have more than 800,000
contact hours in the classroom and labs. The college also has among the highest-rated
programs for allied health employees, law enforcement officers, industrial technology
and more.
ACC works closely with several of our local lawmakers and the Texas Association of
Community Colleges to ensure that legislation has a positive impact both on our taxpayers
and our student body while also meeting the needs of local employers and community.
The college strives to build relationships with community leaders and lawmakers in
order to accomplish educational objectives such as the Texas 60x30 initiative.
Legislative priorities are established by the ACC Board of Regents in accordance with
the college’s mission, to provide affordable education and job training to its students
while maintaining fiscal accountability to taxpayers.
